Brothers Jailed In Monday Investigation

Brothers were jailed Monday morning after an alert police officer recognized one as an individual against whom his department had outstanding warrants.

A deputy contacted coworkers at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department around 10:19 a.m. when he recognized Brandon Kyle Allen, age 28, as an individual with outstanding warrants. Sheriff’s department personnel confirmed that there were three outstanding capias warrants on file against Allen, charging him with sale of marijuana. He was subsequently placed under arrest on the charges.

While they were conducting the arrest in the parking lot of Quik Mart #6, deputies report Allen’s brother, Rodney Shawn Allen, age 39, of 147 Hood Hollow Road, Five Points, exited the store.

Brandon was transported to the Lawrence County Jail for booking. While there, deputies were summoned back to the market. Clerks reported they had gone into the bathroom after Shawn Allen exited to conduct routine cleaning. They report finding a pipe and a small container of marijuana in the trash can. They told deputies they took the trash can behind the register and placed a call for assistance. They indicated that Shawn Allen reentered the store, walked into the restroom, then exited the store building and left.

The contraband was seized into evidence and warrants were issued, charging Shawn Allen with the crimes of simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies report they located Shawn Allen shortly at the Lawrence County Courthouse. He was then placed under arrest and booked on the charges.

Both Allens are scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 8, 2010.
