Shoplifter Leaves Son To Wait In Car
A Hohenwald man arrested in the wake of a shoplifting incident Thursday told police officers that he had left his son to wait in the car while he committed the crime.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were dispatched to Walmart at around 4:30 p.m. to assist with a shoplifter who was in possession of a knife.
Officers conferred with the store’s Loss Prevention personnel and made contact with the suspect near the service desk. When they confronted him about the incident, reports show that he admitted he had store property on his person along with some pocket knives.
When he was searched, officers report finding that the suspect, thirty-four year old Aaron Cain Sigler, was in possession of nearly $200 worth of merchandise including five stylus pens, three flash drives, and a Life Proof cell phone case.
They also found that he was in possession of a glass meth pipe, Klonopin pills, and a plastic baggie that contained approximately .5 grams of methamphetamine.
Officers report that Sigler told them he “had a problem and had been using meth for around six months.” He told them that he had left his eleven year old son to wait in the car. The child was transported to the police station to await the arrival of his grandparents. He was then released into their custody.
Officers report that when they searched Sigler’s car they seized a .22 long rifle. At the time, he told them, he was on probation in Lewis County for manufacturing meth.
Sigler was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges of possession of Schedule II and Schedule IV narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and shoplifting. He was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on February 5, 2015.
