New Officers Elected To South Lawrence Economic Development Association
The South Lawrence Economic Development Association met on Tuesday to elect new officers and to establish goals for the upcoming year.
At the meeting, board members elected Rodney Robinson as the organization's new president. Robinson, owner of Southern Craft Manufacturing in Loretto, has previously served on the county school board as well as the Chamber of Commerce board.
Members also elected Chris Beckman as Vice President, Chris Jackson as Secretary and Steve Kress as Treasurer. A motion was made and passed to honor last year's president, Harley Simbeck, by giving him the title as President Emeritus of SLEDA. Simbeck, a long time educator in Lawrence County, was one of the founding members of the Association and served as the first president of the group.
The Association announced that they plan to pursue several projects in the coming year that will enhance southern Lawrence County and will make the community more appealing to prospective industries and retailers. They also plan to continue to lobby for progressive community investments such as the school building program and improvements to the area's infrastructure.
SLEDA is a non-profit organization established to improve the quality of life for citizens in southern Lawrence County. The group meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 AM at City Hall in Loretto.
