Another Meth Lab Bites The Dust

Local law enforcement officials have been able to shut down yet another meth lab in Lawrence County, this one behind a home on Patrick Road.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies had received tips regarding the possible manufacture of methamphetamine at the home.

One of the tipsters reported two men had already cooked at least one batch of the drug in a wooded area behind the residence.

After arriving at 41 Patrick Road, deputies obtained permission from the homeowner to conduct a search of the premises. They report finding nothing of relevance inside the house.

When they walked approximately 200 yards behind the home, into some woods, deputies report they located a non-working meth lab.

Numerous items used in the manufacture of meth were discovered at the spot, including Coleman fuel, cold packs, muriatic acid, peeled lithium batteries, lye, lighter fluid, salt, plastic bottles, latex gloves, and a shake bottle.

While they were processing the lab, agents report that two men arrived on the scene; one with a package of Claritan D cold medication on his person. They were found to be in possession of nothing illegal, deputies report.

One of the men had a circular saw in his possession. When he told deputies from whom he had purchased the tool they noted that the man was a suspect in several local burglaries.

They report that the man voluntarily allowed them to take the saw to investigators so that they could determine whether it had been listed among the stolen property.

Proper measures were utilized in cleaning up the meth lab. No arrests were made at that time, however the matter remains under investigation.
