Crash Claims Life Of West Point Man

A two vehicle crash in the St. Joseph area Wednesday morning has claimed the life of an elderly West Point resident.

Officials indicate the crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 43 South, near the Shelton Drive intersection. Reports show a 1989 Dodge truck driven by Thomas Todd, age 88, collided with a tractor trailer rig driven by Russellville, Alabama resident David Mims.

Officials indicate Mims sustained only minor injuries in the crash. He was transported to Crockett Hospital for medical attention. Todd was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the present time the cause of the crash remains under investigation through the St. Joseph Police Department.

Thomas Todd is the brother of Amos Todd, who was the subject of an extensive search effort in September.

Amos Todd went missing while hunting for ginseng in a remote wooded area of St. Joseph. Searchers found his body three days later. Officials indicated he had died from natural causes.
