Authorities Seek Public Assistance In Tuesday Fire That Claimed One Life
Authorities have issued a plea to the public for information related to a house fire that claimed the life of a Lawrenceburg man on Tuesday.
Units with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department were dispatched to 223 Brink Street at 3:48 p.m. on December 30. Although they arrived within three minutes of receiving the call, they report that resident Richard Andrew Stafford, age 66, had perished.
Fire department officials said Friday evening that their department has been engaged in a joint investigation of the fire. Also involved in the investigation are the Lawrenceburg Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, State of Tennessee Bomb and Arson Section, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. They reported in a press release that, "There are still unanswered questions that investigators seek the answers to."
Department officials stated, "The public at large is asked to help seek justice for the victim in this case by coming forward with any information they may have." They ask, "If you were in the area of Brink Street and Mahr Avenue and saw anything or know of information that might assist investigators in answering questions, you are urged to make that information known."
To report any information contact the police department at 931-762-2276, sheriff's department at 931-762-3626, or the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017. A cash award is available through the Arson Hotline for information that leads to an arrest or conviction of persons responsible for suspicious and incendiary fires.
